We want to provide our families with a quick update regarding our after-school program.

Overton County Schools is currently working on the application process and hiring staff to help provide afterschool services at our schools. We ask for your patience as we work through this process. Our goal is to make sure we have adequate staffing at each location to safely and effectively meet the needs of the families who depend on afterschool care.

As previously shared, this program will be funded by the district this year, and participation will be based on demonstrated childcare need. Parents/guardians will also be responsible for providing transportation home from the program.

Our goal is to have the afterschool program operating no later than Monday, September 14. Once applications have been reviewed, we will communicate directly with families who meet the demonstrated need for afterschool childcare.

Also, due to the limited number of students at LMS who have demonstrated a need for afterschool childcare due to parent/guardian work schedules, we will not have sufficient enrollment to operate a separate afterschool program at that location. However, we want to ensure those families still have access to afterschool care. Students who qualify will be transported from LMS to A.H. Roberts Elementary, where they will participate in the afterschool program. Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation home at the conclusion of the program.

We know afterschool care is important to many of our working families, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to put a program in place that is safe, appropriately staffed, and able to meet the needs at each location.

Thank you for your continued support of Overton County Schools!
